About Roadstar Sociology Blog

I started the blog for 2 reasons - (1) to help myself "organize sociology", as a learning aid and (2) to present some current issues, ideas etc., particularly from a critical perspective. I want to show "real-life" things and reflect "real issues", hence Labels like "Scary America". No pretensions. That is what interests me. I'm also interested in the concepts of post-modernity (the theory) and all of its ramifications.

The question of why humans act the way they do is an endlessly engaging one. It's fascinating and haunting at the same time. The system is encroaching more and more on everyday life and sociology is THE most important science of the upcoming decades. Who else is going to think about the effects of postmodern society on people and the planet but sociologists? While the people are passively doing their job being consumers, who else will keep society on track?

I have a BA in Sociology and a university certificate in career counselling. I'm also Level B certified in Psychometrics. I'm also very handy with computers and do a wide range of freelance computer work. I am also a professional musician with an international career. The picture above was take in Madrid, during a European tour.

The slideshow on the right is made up of my own photos from various places in the world including Berlin, Madrid, Paris, Toronto, Prague and Moose Factory Ontario. They show people in real life social situations as well as "street art" and other cultural depictions of the world.
